Patsy Ruth Cameron Hunt

Patsy Ruth Cameron Hunt, 79, passed away on June 19, 2017 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh after a blessedly short illness and is now at peace. 

Patsy was born on April 24, 1938 in Hoke County to the late William Wooten and Ruby King Cameron. She is survived by her husband, Doug, and her two children, Ashley (Phil) and Rusty (Paul). 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. at North Raleigh United Methodist Church (8501 Honeycutt Road, Raleigh).

Patsy was a proud graduate of Hoke County High School and made life-long friends there, sharing many memorable beach weekends with "the girls". She went on to study at East Carolina University and was a founding member of that school's chapter of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Graduating in 1960 with a degree in education, she worked as a teacher in Fayetteville and then Charlotte.

In 1965, she married Doug, and they soon started their family. She returned to teaching on a part-time basis when her children were in middle school and then shifted to office work, helping run various businesses. Her final job was her favorite, doing administrative work for her daughter's staffing firm. 

An active member of the church, Patsy found fulfillment in various knitting circles which were devoted to making clothes for newborns and dolls for children in crisis. 

Patsy especially enjoyed family vacations at North Myrtle Beach. Having learned to dance the shag there as a girl, she loved going back every year with Doug and the children. In recent times, she spent many happy hours there, be it on the balcony looking out at the ocean or sitting on the couch solving a crossword and sneaking treats to their rescue dog Diva and her grand-dogs Hattie and Flint.
