Richard Armant Obituary

Richard "Dick" Armant, 79, passed away on January 18, 2026. He was born to the late Gordon and Marjorie Armant on June 6, 1946 in Vestal, NY. A 1964 graduate of Vestal High School, he married Cheri Crump in 1966 before deploying to Germany where they both lived while he served in the U.S. Army. After completing his tour of duty, they returned to Vestal where they resided until 1994, with Dick working most of that time at IBM. Deciding they wanted a "warmer" climate, they moved to North Carolina eventually ending up in Rolesville.

Dick is survived by Cheri, his wife of nearly 60 years; his brother Terry Armant (Bernice); and sister Gayle Peters (Alan). He also leaves behind his most prized legacy, his children Kevin (Sasha) of Hillsborough, NJ, Dan (Ginny) of Rolesville, NC and Michelle Warren (Chris) of Dunn, NC. His memory, corny sayings and unwavering devotion to his family will be cherished by his grandchildren, Emily, Zavian, Joshua, Jaiden, Justin, and Lacey, as well as Coby, Lily, and Sadie.

A dedicated community servant, Dick was active wherever he lived. In Vestal, he was a volunteer firefighter and inspector, a founding member of the local Elks Club, where he organized charity road races, and a co-founder of the Vestal Junior Wrestling Club. He also took great pride in managing his daughter's travel soccer team.

After moving to NC, he started a new career in the trophy business and remained very active in the community serving in the Rolesville Chamber of Commerce and on the advisory board of the Rolesville Parks and Recreation Department. He retired from the trophy business in 2020 and spent his new found free time playing golf, and looking for lost golf balls, with friends.

Dick will be remembered as a devoted family man with quiet strength, a tireless work ethic, and a laugh that won't be forgotten. He showed remarkable resilience, overcoming colon cancer at 45, giving his family 34 more years of laughter, before passing from a steadfast battle with leukemia.

The family is planning a celebration of life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The American Cancer Society or Meg's Smile Foundation.
