Richard Durden Obituary

AUG. 22, 1953 - MAY 8, 2005
Richard "Andy" Durden, 51 of 1009 Luminary Lane, died early Sunday morning at Wake Medical Center. Andy was born in Macon, Georgia, graduated from Willingham High School in 1971 and was a resident of Wake County for the past nine years. He was a production manager with Martin Marietta Aggregatesfor the past 25 years and a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church. He was an avid musician, photographer and wood craftsman. Andy was very active with the Business Alliance of the Wake County Public School System working with East Garner and Holly Ridge Middle Schools. Always caring about others, he was an organ and tissue donor.
Funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Swift Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Billy Dennis. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Atkins Durden of the home; mother, Pearlene Young of Macon, GA; grandmother, Mary Mildred Parker of Macon, GA; mother-in-law, Christine Atkins of Raleigh; sisters, Cynthia Lewis and her husband, Bob of Macon, GA; Mary Ann Moore and her husband, Willard of Macon; GA; brother, Jeff Durden and his wife, Denise of Juliette, GA; nephews, Josh Durden, Jason Moore and Jarrett Moore.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Durden and stepfather Vernon Young.
The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner and other times at the home.
