Col Robert Hall was my commanding office in Korea when I was battalion surgeon for the Second Battalion, 23rd Regiment, 2ID in 1951. I always thought he was an exemplary officer and a good doctor.
Years later, when we met at a 2ID reunion, he greeted me by name which shows what a really great guy he was considering that I was only one of many serving under him.
The US Army and the men he commanded were fortunate to have had his presence.

As a Korean War Veteran of Medical Company, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3nd Batallion , Love Company, 2nd platoon Medic, I did not meet Col Hall until after the war was over , but he was a man amomg men inspired by all who served under him, and everyone that knew him felt he was special.
He had a cause he persued for years to right the wrong that was contained in a book about the medical care at the Battle of Chipyong-ni. It claimed that there was very little medical care in the Collecting Company , and that was provided by a M/Sgt. Jerry J Novosad.
Of course this was untrue and Dr. Hall tried for years to have this book changed , but this was not done. His friend M/Sgt. Novosad was furious about this blatent lie, and told Dr. Hall about this.
Where this author got his facts is a mystery.
Jane , the Medical Company and those who where from the Indianhead Division who knew Bob will miss him and his candor.
Most sincerely,
John and Phyllis Kamperschroer .

We are good friends of Betsy and her family. After reading her dad's obituary we now know where she gets her goodness from. Col. Hall was obviously a wonderful person and great American. We regret not knowing him personally, and extend our sincere heartfelt condolences to all of his family and friends.

Col. Hall was indeed a great man. His passion for doing the right thing, his devotion helping others, his tough-mindedness, and his fundamental humanity are things that I will never forget. We will not see his like again.
