Roberta Scott
January 26, 1937 - April 8, 2022
Garner, North Carolina - Garner - Roberta Sanders Scott, 85, died at Brookdale Cary, Cary, North Carolina, April 8, 2022, after several years of severe dementia.
Roberta was born January 26, 1937, at Rex Hospital, Raleigh, North Carolina, to Robert Lee Sanders and Elizabeth Harris Sanders.
She lived in the Sander's family home on Leadmine Road, Raleigh, and attended Millbrook School. After marriage, she lived in Raleigh, Cary, Southern Pines, Garner and enjoyed a vacation home at Salter Path, Surf City, or Atlantic Beach.
Roberta is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Edward; son, Gordon of Garner; three sisters, Norma Marshburn of Raleigh, Doris Sanders of Zebulon, Joyce Terry and husband Wallace of Raleigh and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; two brothers, Robert Hugh and Larry Wayne.
She was primarily a homemaker but did work part-time jobs with several organizations.
Roberta was an active participant in religious, civic and service activities. She attended church at an early age and became a member of a Baptist Church wherever she lived. She was a charter member of Aversboro Road Baptist Church, Garner, where she served on committees including Chair of Building and Grounds Committee. She was a member of several organizations including Cary Jaycettes (11th President), Southern Pines Jaycettes (1st President), Miss Southern Pines Pageant (Initiator), North Carolina National Guard Officers Wives Club, and 'First Lady' of the North Carolina National Guard for four years.
She found pleasure in helping others, family activities, gardening, dining, friends, traveling and coastal North Carolina including boating and fishing.
A service of celebration for Roberta's life will be held at Aversboro Road Baptist Church, 1600 Aversboro Road, Garner,
2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 12th. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial at Montlawn Memorial Park following the service.
The family is grateful to the staff and attendants at Brookdale Cary for the care given Roberta for 8 ½ years.
