Roscoe was a very kind and helpful man. As a graduate student at the U of C, he helped me several times with suggestions and solutions to problems. I thoroughly enjoyed him as an adviser and instructor. His cloud physics class was one of the best classes I ever attended. His presence will be missed greatly.

As a U of C alum I had always been interested in aviation history. On a visit to the campus I decided to drop into the Geophysical Sciences Dept. to see if someone there knew about the Thunderstorm Project. I was directed to an office and found a very pleasant gentleman who claimed he knew something a bout it. This is how I met Roscoe Brahham. If that wern't enough another man came into the office. It was Ted Fujita. I was awestruck on meeting two "names" in one visit. I kept in touch with Roscoe off and on as my research continued. The profession has lost a scholar and a gentleman.

Roscoe's contributions to atmospheric science were exceptional: An outstanding researcher, mentor, teacher and provider of service to the science community. In addition, a true and gracious gentleman.

My sincere condolences to the family. It is a blessing Roscoe lived a long life. He reminds me of Psalms 90:10, an especially strong individual.

I greatly appreciated the mentoring that Roscoe gave me under his guidance while receiving my PhD at the University of Chicago. What he gave me was the great appreciation for cloud microphysics, especially measuring cloud properties in-situ using aircraft. The level of detail that he possessed was terrific.

Roscoe was a great colleague during the years we were both at the University of Chicago. I valued his integrity; collegiality; commitment to science, the University, his research group, students, and fellow faculty; his hospitality, and concern for all.

I took this photo in the evening of the same day Dr. Braham passed away, not knowing he had already left us that morning. What a great guy! Dr. Braham always spoke to me so kindly whenever he came in the front office of MEAS and always asked how my dad was (about the same age). A terrific scientific mind, yet he was so humble about it all. I so enjoyed talking to him and will miss him. Much peace to the family, and you will be in my prayers.

Dr. Braham contributed in many ways, not just to the science of the atmosphere, but also in perhaps less visible ways to our department here at NC State. He was kind and supportive, while offering insightful and constructive comments and questions. He will be missed, but his contributions will live on.

Roscoe always met you with a smile on his face and genuine interest in his heart. He wanted to know how you were doing and what you were involved in. He was a gentle, kind, and unselfish scientist, yet he was always ready with an analogy or advice if you had a problem. He was the kind of guy that spoke softly, but when he spoke most people stopped talking to listen what he had to say. We were all better for knowing Roscoe, and will miss him now that he has gone.

Rich and Anne Margaret:
Thoughts and peace are with you today. What a life and what great care givers you've been.A few years back I remarked on the longevity of the Brahams and commented we should all be so lucky.... and Rich had an astute comeback.
Eternal be his memory, eternal be his rest.

Roscoe was one of the kindest, most supportive, and most positive persons I have ever known. At at time when university researchers shied away from applied research with forecasters at National Weather Service, Roscoe encouraged that interaction. His encouragement led me to renew my efforts to address regional forecast problems. My colleagues and I continued to to cement relations between NCSU and the Raleigh Weather Service Office, and our joint efforts helped pioneer a national program of cooperative NOAA/University research.

Dr. Braham was a major influence on me during my time at NCSU. He was approachable, genuine, and a 'shear' joy to be around. A model professor.
