Ruby Lee Coltrain, 87 formerly of Lane Drive in Trinity, died Wednesday at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC. Ruby Lee was born, January 15, 1924, in Bush Hill, now Trinity and lived much of her life in the family home built by her father. The youngest of nine children, her home remained a welcome haven to family and friends seeking love and the comfort of her famous butter mints, pound cakes and chocolate treats. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother, and faithful friend. She was preceded in death by her parents W.A. Hill and Carrie Mae Spencer Hill, five brothers, and four sisters.
Mrs. Coltrain is survived by her husband of 62 years, Spencer E. Coltrain, of the home, and three children; Larry Coltrain and wife, Dru, of High Point, Susan Shuler and husband, Tommy, of Lexington, NC, and Debbie Skakle and husband, Andrew, of Cary, NC. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Chadd Coltrain, Landi Bregman, Lauren Slack, Austin Skakle, Auburn Skakle, Spencer Skakle, and three adorable great- grandchildren, Mackenzy, Hutton and Colton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Coltrain will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with the Reverend Ben Hurley officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
