Russell Beecher Obituary

Russell S. Beecher
January 20, 1943 - September 14, 2012
Chapel Hill, NC
Having spent about 6 weeks at UNC Hospital with a variety of serious complications following a heart attack, Russ Beecher, beloved husband of Jackie for 48 years, honored father of Jason, Marnie, Gabriel, and Ben, and grandfather of five darling children, passed away. We would like to think that he had completed his final assignments on earth: He played a major role in his wife's recovery from cancer and made sure that all his children were happily settled personally and professionally. We are devastated by the loss of the mainstay of our family.
We were blessed by the love of a truly honorable, compassionate, and humble man, who touched the lives of many people, including students, teachers, and families around the world. As a last selfless gesture, Russ left instructions for his body to be donated to the UNC Medical School to further the education of future physicians.
If you desire to pay tribute to a great man, please send donations in honor of Russell Beecher to
The Lineberger Comprehensive Care Center
Attn. Bone Marrow Transplant Program
External Affairs Office
CB# 7295
Chapel Hill, NC 27599
Checks should be made out to "UNC Bone Marrow Program." In the memo line, please write "In Honor of Russ Beecher."

With sincere condolences to the Beecher famiy. I was a high school classmate of Russ's in MA. Many of us wondered where Russ had landed. Happy to read that you had such a long and happy life with him!

To Russ's family--While I did not have the opportunity to work with him, I often speak of Russ as the person who put the firm foundation beneath the education department of Auldern Academy. It is due to his work that we now have the reputation of offering our girls an excellent academic experience while they deal with the emotional issues that have brought them our way. His talents were a gift that will continue to give to the both the students and staff of Auldern Academy.

Jackie

My condolences, I remember when we did a house swap you in California and I in your condo in San Juan, P.R. I can't believe just today I found his e-mail thanking me for the use of my townhouse in Foster City, CA.

Dr. Beecher,
I am so sad to hear that you have left us. I am still at ACS and have many great memories of you and Jackie, teaching Gabe and parties at your house!
May you rest in peace.
