Ruth Streeter Obituary

Ruth Ann Shepard Streeter died on January 22, 2009 in Aurora, IL at Provena Mercy Medical Center.
She was the daughter of Louis Shepard and the late Verna Mae Whitaker Shepard.
Ruth was a graduate of Garner Consolidated High School in Garner, NC in the class of 1962. She furthered her education at St. Augustine's College and went on to teach high school in Goldsboro, NC. Later becoming the wife of a career military man she traveled with him and held various positions in the banking industry across the U.S. and Guam.
Ruth was a member of Mount Peace Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her move to Illinois. Ruth was an accomplished pianist and vocalist. She was a loving person that never met a stranger.
She is survived by the love of her life, Ephraim Streeter her husband of 45 years; daughters, Crystal Rosario and an extra ordinary son-in-law, Angel of North Aurora, IL, Sonya Streeter of Springfield, VA and Katherine Johnson (Ron) of Marietta, GA; one granddaughter, Amaya Johnson; her father, Louis Shepard of Garner; brothers, Robert Shepard of Silver Springs, MD, Roger Shepard of Atlanta, GA and Anthony Shepard of Garner, NC; sisters, Maxine Ingram of New Brunswick, NJ, Celestine Hinnant of Garner and Janice Hinnant of Wendell; a special aunt, Eloise Green (Dolphus) of Garner; uncles, Claywood Withaker (Ruby Mae) of Garner, Howard Whitaker (Betty) of Roanoke, VA, Thurman Whitaker (Frances) of Raleigh and Bobby Whitaker of Malvern, PA; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Thigpen (Daniel); and brother-in- law, Connie Mac Streeter (Tempie) both of Greenville; special lifetime friend, Consuelo Mitchell of Garland, TX.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 12:00 noon at Mount Peace Baptist Church in Raleigh.
Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. There will be a full wake at Chappell Funeral Home 555 Creech Road, Garner, NC on Tuesday from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the home of Dolphus and Eloise Green, 222 Haywood Street Garner, NC.

Our prayers go up for the family especially her uncle William Howard Whitaker, I. Senior Deacon Howard and Deaconess Betty Whitaker are founding Disciples of God's House. Senior Deacon Whitaker serves as the Chairman of the Finance Ministry. Deaconess Whitaker serves as our Church Clerk.
