She was the world to all of us. We love you and you will forever be in our prayers. But as for Shannon, she may be gone, but she will NEVER be forgotten.

Ernie, I love you so much and it hurts me to see you in so much pain. As I told you on Tuesday, you have so many friends and family that love you and are going to be here for you anytime that you and Dougie need them. You, Dougie and Shannon both have touched my heart in so many ways and even though we live so many miles apart now, you are still and will always be a part of my family.
My parents sends their love.
You all are the most wonderful people that I think i'll ever meet in my life. Shannon was just like her momma, she looked like her daddy, but she has her mothers heart and spirit. You brung a wonderful person in this world and she has touched so many peoples lifes. Like so many have said, take this one day at a time and share her memory with others, i know i am. I can see you all now coming to West Virginia for them cookouts we use to do and Shannon coming up to me with her arms wide open and that big 'ol smile of hers. I can honestly say that she was the greatest person that i have ever met and shes going to be with me every single day.
Shannon, Baby girl, i love you with all of my heart and you will never be forgotton. I wish that you were still here with us, but i know that you are in heaven looking down upon us, telling us that everythings gonna be all right, like you always do ;) God brung home the greatest angel that i've ever known in my life!
I love all of you and miss you dearly!

Ernie, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We often shared stories of our daughters and each time your eyes would shine with joy when speaking of Shannon. Your love for her was evident but God loved her more and called her home. Trust in God and he will strenghten you....."there is no sorrow on earth that Heaven can't heal". May his peace be upon you.

We have never met but I read the story in the USA today. My son was killed this year in April in a car accident and know the pain and suffering that you are going through. Take one day at a time and some days it is moments at a time. If you should need someone to talk to please feel free to call. My prayers go out to you and your family.

Mr. & Mrs. Adkins
We have never met and I had never had the pleasure to meet your daughter however our son Jamie has known Shannon a long time. We just want you to know that we as parents must all stick together and we all try to protect our babes but now she is with the lord and I am praying for your family and all of her friends but please let the world know your daughter and fight for her and tell her story and the hard research she did for her community. we live two subdivisions away from yours and my heart is completely broken like yours and I wish I could just give you a really big hug and let you know that there is alot of people out there that are praying for you and your wonderful husband try to be strong and may god bless you and your entire family and friends.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Ernie, you and Doug are in my thoughts and prayers. Shannon is a beautiful girl and is loved by many, and always will be. Shannon was a great person with a wonderful smile. She was always there whenever i needed her, reminding me to stay true to myself. Knowing you since day care when i was 8, it's so hard to believe this would ever happen. Only the good die young. I know your having a blast where you are now. I'll be praying for your family. You will be missed! i'll see you one day girly =)

There are no words adequate to express the feelings that surface when a parent's worst nightmare becomes reality.
Ernie, you so graciously shared with us as Shannon grew from a small baby to the wonderful young woman that she became, only to be taken from us so tragically.
You and your family have my deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences and are in my thoughts and prayers.
I sincerely regret that I will not be able to be there for you tomorrow but will be there for you in spirit.
