Stephen Reid Obituary

Stephen Thomas Reid, 63, died peacefuly at Wake Medical Center on January 4, 2011. He was born in Maxton, NC on January 26, 1947, the oldest son of Edwin M. Reid and Nell Elizabeth Thomas Reid. He was preceded in death by his parents. Steve is survived by his brother David M. Reid, MD and wife Lisa and their children Emily and Marshall; brother Russell M. Reid and wife Nancy; and cousins in North and South Carolina.
Steve was an army brat and lived in various places around the world while growing up. He graduated from Cary High School and then UNC Chapel Hill in 1969 with a degree in Radio, Television, and Motion Pictures Studies. He served in the army prior to working for years as a radio news journalist in a number of cities in the Southeast before settling in Raleigh. An excellent pool player, he most enjoyed the competition with and companionship of his friends at Northside Billiards and The Brass Tap in Raleigh. Steve also enjoyed fishing and was a diehard Tar Heels fan. He loved his family and was much loved in return.
A celebration/remembrance gathering will be held on January 16th at 2 pm at the home of David and Lisa Reid, 2905 Lake Boone Place, Raleigh, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the Disabled American Veterans Association (www.dav.org) or the Urban Ministries of Wake County (www.umofwake.org)
