Steven Bachar Obituary

Steven Charles Bachar, 58, died March 15, 2024 in Rifle, Colorado. He was born to Miriam and James Bachar in Pittsburg, PA, but grew up mostly in Chapel Hill, NC, attending Chapel Hill High School. He graduated from Emory University with a degree in political science and a minor in Russian history and served as a member of the Army Reserves; Steve also graduated from Georgetown Law School. He served in the Clinton administration as Lead Advance for the President and, subsequently, in the Treasury Department. Following his work in Washington, D.C., Steve and his young family moved to Denver, CO where he served on non-profit boards and practiced law. He remained active in politics, supporting state and federal Democratic political campaigns and co-chairing the Clinton Global Initiative in Denver. He was a lifelong aficionado of music, especially roots music, and played the mandolin; an avid outdoorsman; a voracious reader-his favorite author was North Carolina author Thomas Wolfe; and loved dogs. Steve is survived by his beloved daughters Sarabeth and Emily, and their mother, Sue Bachar, as well as his brother, Jeff Bachar (Amanda).
