Thomas Griffin Obituary
He was born in Lewiston-Woodville in Bertie County, on January 20, 1918 to Thomas Whitmel Griffin and Margaret McKenzie Urquhart Griffin. After graduating in 1937 from Virginia Episcopal School, Lynchburg, VA, and attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he returned home to help manage the family farms and Woodville Supply Company. He served on numerous county agricultural boards, and was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Woodville, serving as a Senior Warden of the Vestry.
Thomas Griffin is survived by his sister, Margaret U. Griffin of the home; numerous cousins and dedicated caregivers.
Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Grace Episcopal Church Churchyard, Lewiston-Woodville with Rev. Joe Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of John and Claudia Griffin.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Churchyard Fund of Grace Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 715, Lewiston-Woodville, NC 27849 or to the Lewiston-Woodville Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 340, Lewiston-Woodville, NC 27849.
