Thomas Groce Obituary

Thomas Gilmore Groce, 87, of Wrightsville Beach, NC and formerly of Sanford, NC, died Monday, August 13, 2001 at Cornelia Nixon Davis Health Care Center.
Born in Lee County on December 12, 1913, he was a sonof the late Shelby G. and Annie G. Groce.
He was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church in Sanford and was retired from Saco Lowell.
He is survived by his wife, Verlie McNeill Groce; and one daughter, Jean Groce Joyner of Wrightsville Beach, NC; one granddaughter, Jan Joyner Ritchie and husband, Chris of Annapolis, MD; one grandson, Jason Gilmore Joyner and wife, Julie of Wake Forest, NC; one great-granddaughter, Claire McNeill Joyner; and one great-grandson, Tyler McNeill Joyner, bothof Wake Forest, NC.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2001 at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery by the Reverend Gerald Bridges and the Reverend Ira Sutton.
The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cool Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 1313 Cool Springs Road, Sanford, NC 27330.
