Thomas Joseph McAneney, Sr
Chapel Hill
Thomas Joseph McAneney, Sr passed away on September 20, 2011 at UNC Cancer Hospital after a battle with leukemia. Tom, a native Philadelphian, was born to Thomas and Catherine McAneney, Irish immigrants, on May 23, 1928, the oldest of five boys. He was a proud alumus of LaSalle College High School and LaSalle University. He served his country in Korea in the U.S. Army. In 1951 he married the love of his life, spark of his soul, Marilyn Brennan. They raised four children. Tom worked for Reynolds Metals Company for 42 years which took him to Charlotte NC and then Cherry Hill, NJ. He and Marilyn retired in 1997 to Governors Club in Chapel Hill NC.
He is survived by Marilyn, his devoted wife of 60 years; four children, Maureen McAneney of Cherry Hill, NJ, Constance McAneney MD of Cincinnati, Ohio, Thomas and Debora (Tiberino) McAneney of Cherry Hill, NJ, Vincent and Christine(Jacko) McAneney of Cinnaminson, NJ: five grandchildren, Conor, Nicholas, Amanda, Nicole and Allison; three brothers, Vincent and Holly McAneney of Cherry Hill, NJ, Bernard McAneney of Hornell NY and John and Shelia McAneney of Holland, PA; 18 nieces and nephews; an uncle, Bernard and Eileen Campbell of Rathcoffey, Ireland and multitudes of cousins and friends.
Tom's life was filled with joy. He lit up every room he entered and was loved by everyone he met. He was the ultimate husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, and friend.
There will be a visitation with the family at Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill on Friday September 23, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. (919-942-3861).
The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at the Newman Catholic Student Center, 218 Pittsboro St, Chapel Hill NC on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.
Donations can be made in Tom's name to LaSalle College High School, Development Office, 8605 Cheltenham Ave, Wyndmoor, PA 19038

Marilyn, I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Tom was a wonderful man. He always made me feel special. Never did he confuse me with my brothers. He always knew who I was and that always meant the world to me. Always know that the Fleming family is here for you if you ever need us.
