My cousin Tim, you gentle bear....you've left us too soon.

My favorite memories include playing the card game "Authors" with him while we sat cross-legged on his bed...a green chenille bedspread that left caterpillar-like marks on our legs--I must have been 7 years old and he 10...he'd just gotten home from summer camp and was very tanned. A day or two later, he came down with Menningitis, probably picked up at camp. I had to get a shot of gamma globulin. He recovered and I never got sick.

One day(mid-to late 1950's), he built the world's 1st skateboard. He hammered a few pieces of wood together and attached a pair of old metal rollerskates--the kind you used a skate key to adjust-- to the underside. Since it was a not a streamlined design, it took talent to make the thing behave. Tim, with expert body language, could 'steer' it all the way down the sidewalk from his yard to the corner while I usually ended up in the shrubbery. We'd take turns sitting on it and rolling down the side walk...down the city block to the little corner market where we'd buy penny candy--Mary Janes, Fireballs and Baseball bubblegum(we shared-he got the baseball cards & I got the gum). On one of these skateboard trips to the corner store, his old black dog trotted along with us. Tim bought me candy and, on the return trip, I sat on the skateboard while he pushed me up the sloping side walk towards his front yard. As he leaned over to give me a shove(he was very athletic, you know), his extra money slipped from his shirt pocket and bounced all over the sidewalk. Before you could say Jack Rabbit, his dog gobbled up all the coins...swallowed several quarters, dimes and nickels in one fell swoop--to our utter amazement. I always will remember the stunned look on Tim's face...disbelief that the balance of his weekly $ allowance was jingling away in his dog's belly. He got tickled and burst out laughing while trying to force the dog to "cough it up."

Tim had a fabulous comic book collection which he kept very organized & neatly stacked, two or three feet deep, in his bedroom closet...he always let me sift through them...mostly super hero comics and a few "classics"-fine literature reduced to comic format. His bedroom was always very clean and orderly...As a little kid, I was very aware of this neatness, because my sisters and I were slobs and our own rooms could not compete. As I got older, I realized his sweet Mama was responsible for his tidy room.

He always played fairly and was pleasant as could be. I never saw him angry. The only time I ever saw him tense was in the middle of a basketball game when our team was behind. In the halls of Hugh Morson and of Enloe, I'd feel so proud when he'd acknowledge me...especially in front of my girlfriends. My cousin, Tim, the handsomest basketball star....I love you.
Always,
Marsha Polier Grossman

i always will remember the summer tim came over to visit with my self and my 3 sisters,( we were cousins ) he was pobably 12 years old and i was 7, he began vigously jumping up and down and laughing, and i could hear all this water sloshing around in his belly, i was shocked and amazed at such an exotic feat, when he stopped jumping he informed me that he had eaten a big piece of watermelon before he came over, and wanted to share it with us !! i also was in the 7th grade at enloe when he was a senior and in all his glory, i loved to pass him in the hall so i could tell my friends he was my handsome, charming, funny, athletic, cousin and maybe some of it would rub off on me.. i'll miss your hugs.. karen daniels polier

Tim was always loved by his classmates. As a classmate at Hugh Morson and Enloe, Tim was admired for not only his athletic ability, but his wit and sense of humor. I'm sure that all classmates share in our sympathies to all of Tim's family.

The Sykes's Family and The Hodge Family will miss Tim tremendously. He was a rare person that touched so many lives along the way. He cared very deeply for those he loved and will always be remembered as the life of the party.
I cannot remenber a time when I did not know Tim. I will miss seeing him at the resturant shows and talking about old times.
Most of all I will miss his laugh and the way he made people around him feel good.
