Timothy Leonard Obituary

Timothy Joe Leonard, age 58, and a resident of Franklinton, died September 19, 2010. He was born in Wake County to the late Douglas Nelson and Lena Mae Dickerson Leonard on February 11, 1952. He ran Leonard's Men Shop with his father and brother for 11years and worked for Farm Bureau Insurance for 23 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was an honorable and great man who loved his family. He was a hard worker, a diligent provider, and had a funny sense of humor. He knew no stranger and would help anyone in need.
We will miss our father dearly and are comforted by memories of his passion for fishing, Red Bud cabin trips, family stories, and always wanting to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He loved his weekly date night with his daughters and watching them play ball.
You will always stay in our memories and our hearts Dad. We love you!!
Tim is survived by his five loving children: Gail Lindsey, Kevin Lindsey and wife, Amy, Laurie Lindsey, Casey Butner and husband, Dexter; and Elizabeth Leonard, all of Winston-Salem, NC; his brother, Steve Leonard and wife, Mary of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Ashley, Austin and Silas; three great-grandchildren; his former wife, Vicki Leonard of Winston-Salem; and a very special and devoted life-long friend, Anethia Collins of Franklinton, NC.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010, at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Franklinton Chapel, 504 E. Mason St. in Franklinton. The Reverend Clyde Waiden will officiate and burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may visit prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home from 12:30-2:00 p.m. and other times at the home of Anethia Collins, 1208 E. Green St. in Franklinton.

I am Beckie Tanner and I work for Southern Farm Bureau in Jackson, MS. I worked with Tim many times over the years and he truly deserves the title of "one of a kind" - I am an underwriter so I could not always do what Tim wanted for his clients - but he knew I would try my best - we had many conversations over the years and it always ended with a joke - I am so sorry for your loss - Beckie

My prayers will be with you as you face this difficult time. Tim was a joy to talk with over the years I worked with him and on the few occasions that I did visit with Tim, his eyes lit up every time he mentioned his girls.

Look to God to find some peace and ALWAYS remember, your Daddy loves you!!

The family has a special guardian angel to watch over them now as he did in his life on earth. Tim was a special guy and was loved by so many people. I feel grateful that our paths crossed in this life. Please take comfort in the fact that Tim loved his family and friends. May God give you His peace to comfort you in this time of grief. Franklinton has suffered a great loss but Heaven has gained an Angel.

Liz, hon- I am so, so very sorry. I am really shocked, but so glad that you let me know. You are precious to us, you know that, and so were you to your Dad. Last time we talked you were leaving to eat with him, and I know he cherished those moments with his girl. Hold him in your heart and he will always be with you. Even though, I never met your dad, face to face- as we spoke he was our insurance agent long before you were ever born, and to think his sweet daughter would be part of our lives in the future~~ He was a nice man, and I know he will be missed dearly. Please know you are in our Thoughts and Prayers along with all your sisters, brothers, and the grandkids and your Mom. We love you,
Lynn Callahan and Family........
