Treva F. Kelly

Treva Freeman Kelly, age 88 of 599 Offset Farm Road Sanford, died Tuesday evening (October 13, 2009) at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 26, 1921 in Sampson County, daughter of the late Enoch Freeman and Bertha Roe Gilchrist Freeman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Shelton B. Kelly, son, Dwight Shelton Kelly, daughter Peggy Jean Kelly, nine brothers and two sisters. She was a graduate of Boone Trail High School Class of 1939 and was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Broadway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Currin, Rev. J.H. Daniels and Rev. Steve Botha officiating. Burial will follow in the Kelly Family Cemetery at the Shallow Well Church Cemetery. Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn Cummings and Ned, Kay Kelly and Ronald, Anne Kelly and Wade Barker; sons, Brooks Kelly and Patricia, Gary F. Kelly and Betsy, Phil Kelly and Diana and Richard Kelly and Carolyn; grandchildren, Cindy Buchanan, Larry Kelly, Jodee Rochelle, Kelli R. Hulsey, Frank Rosser, Rhonda K. Sloan, Kim K. Hearn, Kevin Kelly, Jason Kelly, Patrick Kelly, Barrett Kelly, Christa K. Mashburn, Daniel Bost and Deanna Bost; fifteen great-grandchildren, Laura Beth Patterson, Ryan Rochelle, Cody Rochelle, Nicole Kelly, Anna Buchanan, Maggie Buchanan, MacKenzie Hulsey, Jordan Hulsey, Taylor Rosser, Jackson Rosser, Joseph Hearn, Samuel Hearn, Satchel Sloan, Ayden Mashburn and Carter Mashburn; great-great-grandchildren, Cameron and Miley Patterson; and several nieces and nephews. Treva was deeply loved by her children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she always let them know just how special each one was to her. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway and other times at the family home, 599 Offset Farm Road Sanford. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Special Assistance Fund. Checks can be made payable to the Broadway United Methodist Church, 106 Church Street Broadway, NC 27505.
