Valerie Lovett Obituary

Valerie Ward Lovett, 55, of Raleigh, died October 13, 2001, at Rex Healthcare.
Valerie was born September 28, 1946, in Orlando, Florida, and is the daughter of Valmore L. Ward and Henrietta (Tuckie) Shell Ward of Fort Myers, Florida. Valerie received her B.A. degree in History from Emory University in 1967 and her Masters Degree in LibraryScience from Emory University in 1968. She was employed by the Atlanta Public Library System until she joined the Wake CountyPublic Library System in 1974, where she worked until her retirement.
Valerie will be remembered by her legion of friends as a voracious reader, an accomplished stitcher, a gourmet cook, a talented practical joker and a punster. Her intellect was matched only by her sense of humor, her regal presence and her devotion to her family and friends.
Valerie is survivedby her parents, Valmore and Henrietta Ward; her brother, Valmore (Buzz) L. Ward, Jr., and his wife Kathy; her nephew, Valmore (Trey) L. Ward and his wife Monique; and daughter, Whitney, and her closest friend, Ann Holbrooks.
A memorial servicewill be held at Historic Oakview, 4028 Carya Drive, on Friday, October 19, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends after the service.
The family and friends thank Dr. William R. Berry and the fifth floor staff at Rex Healthcare.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Wake County Public Library Fund, 4020 Carya Drive, Raleigh, NC 27610.
