W. Clavis Whitley
Zebulon
W. Clavis Whitley, 75, of Zebulon, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at WakeMed.
He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late James Ruffin Whitley & Mozelle Ferguson Whitley. He attended Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church & was retired from the North Carolina Department of Correction as a Correctional Officer after over 38 years of service.
A funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, June 15, 2011 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Whitley is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy Perry Whitley; daughters, Brenda Hales & husband, Jeff of Zebulon, Jessica Tessinear & husband, Keith of Wendell and Janice Whitley & husband, David of Raleigh; grandchildren, Justin & Lauren Hales, Hannah Tessinear and Heather, Erica & Lawrence Whitley; brothers, Curtis Whitley & wife, Carolyn, Randolph "Tootsie" Whitley, Archie Whitley & wife, Judie and Ben Whitley & wife, Peggy; sisters, Frances Strickland & husband, W.F. "Bucky", Doris Taylor & husband, Earl and Alice Taylor & husband, Dan; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church, 4525 Hopkins Chapel Road, Zebulon, NC 27597.
Friends may visit with the family from 1:00-2:00 P.M., Wednesday afternoon June 15, 2011 at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center. (919-556-5811)
