Mr. Walter Douglas Hudson, 69, of Durham passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Duke University Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Hudson was born in Danville, Virginia, the son of the late Rodney Edward Hudson and Mildred Mary Moore Hudson. He retired in 2011 as Division Vice-President of Triangle Grading and Paving. Prior to that he worked for Southeastern Surveys Inc. and Nello L. Teer Company, and was a former member of the Bethesda Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed Duke basketball, NASCAR racing, fishing, hunting, gardening and spending hours on his riding lawn mower.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cressent H. Pressly (Paul) of Winston-Salem and Katie H. Collini (Chuck) of Durham; brothers, Rodney "Ronnie" Hudson, Jr. (Brenda) of Youngsville, Bill Hudson (Cathy) of Scottsdale, AZ and Jimmy Hudson (Deborah) of Durham; five grandchildren, Rachel Collini, Copper Pressly, Arey Pressly, Finn Collini and Georgia Pressly.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com
