Wilber Howell Obituary

Wilber Lee Howell

Clarksville, Va

Wilber Lee Howell, Jr., 68, loving husband of Angelia Davis Howell, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston after a difficult battle with cancer. Lee was born December 7, 1945 to Wilbur Lee, Sr. and Annie Lynn Cash Howell in Wake County. After graduating from Apex High School in 1964, Lee attended Chowan College and obtained his Civil Engineering degree from W.W. Holding Institute. After graduation he worked as a Hwy Engineer in the NC Highway Dept. for 13 years. Lee served in the United States National Guard while beginning his career as a Real Estate Broker/Developer and for the past 10 years as a licensed real estate appraiser for Virginia and North Carolina. Lee served as Associate District Director of the Heart of Virginia Council, Meherrin District Boy Scouts of America for four years. Never was there a kinder gentler man. Lee was remarkable, always willing to share a smile, a story or a hand to everyone he met. As an outdoorsman and an animal lover, Lee's greatest treasure was spending time on his farm with Angie and their pets. In addition to his wife, Lee is survived by his sister, Jayne Howell Smallwood of Apex, sister-in-laws, Rhonda Ferguson and Renee Williams of Raleigh, mother-in-law, Eloise Smith of Roaring Gap, five nieces and two nephews. Special thanks to all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff of the Halifax Regional Hospital for their exceptional care for Lee during his greatest time of need. Memorial services will be 4PM Sunday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed to the Howell family at www.wclfh..com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake Country SPCA, P.O. Box 14, Clarksville, VA 23927. Online condolences may be expressed to the Howell family at www.wclfh.com.
