I listened to the phone call and Winston was so brave and understanding. His voice was just so calm and he really was a hero. Rest in peace Winston Sadler.

I just learned of Winston's death. I knew him as a high school student, and he was already a gentle man. He leaves a vacant place in the lives of all who knew him. Our prayers are for his family.

It was sad to hear the news of "W.C.'s" passing. Myself and W.C. announced ballgames in High School together. I have not had contact with him in 20 years but I regularly pass his parent's house and see them in the yard. My heart goes out to his family.

W.C. (as we always called him) was a year ahead of me in high school. Numerous times over the last few years I'd attempted to google him and see if his name would hit. Never did. Until tonight. Devistating news; even moreso since he was all the time here just a few miles from my home in Carrboro. Few people list both "school bus driver" and "Governor's School Student/English" (and 11 other things) under the Class of '79 accomplishments, but that's W.C. (as I remember him). RIP, WC.

I am still saddened to hear of Winston's passing, as sad as I was when I first heard the news. Such a kind, gentle, thoughtful man...with the patience of Job when dealing with more 'trying' agents such as myself. He brought calm when nerves were frayed, civility when tempers had flared, and customer service to such a high degree that it drew the love of his customers and the respect of his colleagues. It was a joy and an honour to work with him.

While I was not at AA for a substantial length of time and didn't know him as well as others here, every day I conversed with Winston (either on-call or away from the phones) was a better one. His patience, understanding, and willingness to help me..or even when he just said 'hi'...will never be forgotten.

We all are a bit diminished with his loss now. My prayers to his family.

What a great loss for all of us. I always knew when I had a supervisor call and I heard "This is Winston" (or later Roger Thompson!) that the situation would be handled promptly, correctly and with great compassion. The SERO will not be the same without him.

I had the pleasure and honor of working beside Winston for many years on the IRD desk. Winston had a way of always finding the right words to make things better, no matter what the situation. I'm so sad to hear of his passing.

Winston helped all of us at work. How can we possibly measure such a wealth of contributions...an untold number of new hires who found the inspiration to excel thanks to his fine teaching. He was the living example of grace and compassion under pressure, with solidly good judgement. As an IRD he exemplified the very best of the best...a wonderfully sincere person who helped us all to believe, however briefly, that in our moment shared with him there would be "no worries."

An excellent Resolution Desk Rep. to speak to - he took the calls and knew the answers. A credit to his profession. One of AA's best!

This world has truly lost one of it's most compassionate and kind individuals. Always going the extra mile to be of help to others, even those he never knew personally, I will always remember him as the very embodiment of the words " gentleman " and " kind ".

I always told him how very much of a pleasure it was to speak to him and it really was. Those of us who knew him truly were blessed and graced to have known someone of his caliber and kindness toward his fellow man.

No better man have I ever known.
