Barbara Pentlarge Obituary

Barbara Jane Pentlarge Barbara Jane Pentlarge, age 86 of Brookfield, previously of New York City, passed away at Danbury Hospital, Tuesday, June 17, 2008. Miss Pentlarge was born June 8, 1922, in Montclair, N.J., the daughter of Frank R. and Marguerite (Allen) Pentlarge. Miss Pentlarge was a graduate of The Kimberley School, and Hobart College, and was employed at McCall's Magazine, New York City in the advertising department for her entire career. Miss Pentlarge was a life-long resident of Manhattan and a devoted patron of the Arts. She was particularly fascinated by Medieval art and history, and shared her enthusiasm and expertise in that specialty through her service as a docent for the Metropolitan Museum of Art at the Cloisters. Miss Pent-large was an avid traveler and visited major art museums throughout the world. Miss Pentlarge was known by her family and friends for her fondness for the mythical medieval beast, the unicorn. She is survived by her sister, Caroline H.P. Dealy of Danbury, and her nieces and nephew, Georgiana, Marty, Barbara, Wensley, Darilyn, Caroline and Frank, and their children. She was predeceased by her sisters, Georgiana and Marguerite. An hour has been set aside Sunday, June 22, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury for family and friends to pay their private respects. Burial will be in Montclair, N.J. at a future date.
