Cosimo Mazza Obituary

Cosimo A. Mazza
Oct. 20, 1949 - Aug. 13, 2025
Cosimo A. Mazza, 75, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. He was born in Caulonia, Italy on October 20, 1949, the son of the late Vincenzo and Ascensina (DiChiera) Mazza.
Cosimo continued to carry the warmth, generosity, and traditions of his homeland throughout his life. Traveling back to Italy was one of his greatest pleasures, as it allowed him to reconnect with his roots and share his heritage with his family. He was deeply proud of his two children, Melissa and Marco, who brought him endless joy.
Cosimo was a hardworking entrepreneur who first ran a much-loved farm market in Danbury, sharing fresh produce and conversation with friends and neighbors. Later, along with his brother-in-law Carmelo Chiera, he founded and operated Cosmo's Landscaping and Nursery in New Milford, where his skill, creativity, and strong work ethic earned him respect and trust in the community. He loved people and anyone who met him was touched by his kindness, warm smile, and genuine interest in their lives.
Cosimo's life was defined by love - for his family, his work, and for the many friends he made along the way. His presence will be missed deeply, but his warmth and spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Along with his loving wife Cecilia Mazza of 53 years, he is survived by his children Melissa Mazza and Marco Mazza (Vanessa), and his granddaughter Portia Mazza. He is also survived by his sister Antoinetta Mazza (Nicola Ienco) and his nephew Leonardo Ienco, as well as extended family and dear friends here and in Italy.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday August 19 at Brookfield Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Wednesday August 20 at St Joseph Church, Brookfield. Interment in St Peter Cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Regional Hospice and St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Cosimo's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff that cared for him during his illness.
Ti vogliamo bene per sempre.
We will love you forever.

I am truly Blessed to call Cosimo my brother in law and friend for the last 45 years. During those years we´ve had countless gatherings filled with good wine, good food and lots of laughter.
Those fond memories will last a lifetime and I will cherish them for many years to come.
I will always remember how genuine a man he was and how he shared his kindness and sincerity with so many of us.
The Mister, as I called him, will live on in lives of all of us.
I will truly miss him.
Rest in God´s Eternal Peace
