Dora Beatrice Cherry Hines

Dora Beatrice Cherry Hines, affectionately known as Aunt Da B., 85, of Hospital Avenue, Danbury, departed this life on Tuesday February 6, 2007, after a long illness. She was the widow of James Allen Hines.
She was born in Greenville, N.C. on November 4, 1921 to her late parents Will and Almeida Cherry. She graduated from Epps High School in Greenville and continued her education in Raleigh, N.C., where she received a license in cosmetology. She worked for a few years in her field of study before moving to Danbury in 1956. She worked at the Barden Corporation for more than forty years before retiring. Dora was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a past member of the Missionary Society and was a strong supporter of the Sunday school.
Dora is survived by a son, Arn Hines of Bridgeport, as well as her daughter-in-law, Beverly. She had two grandsons, Darryl and Cailean; seven great-grandchildren, Latefiah, Danyel, Delvon, Andre, Niqui, Tyreese and Ijakie; two brothers, Robert S. Cherry of Danbury and Billy Cherry of Fairfield, Calif.; a sister, Lucille Gorham of Greenville, N.C.; a niece, Lynn Cherry with whom she made her home and several other nieces and nephews.
Dora will be missed by her family. She will be remembered for her wit, her sincerity and her genuine belief that little deeds helped to make the world a better place.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon at the Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church, 69 Rowan St., Danbury. The funeral services will take place at noon.
