Edwin Regan Donnelly, 80, of North Port, Florida, died in Venice, Florida, on July 6th, 2025.
Ed (his preferred name) was preceded in death by father, Edwin Francis Donnelly; and mother, Rita Regan Donnelly. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Donnelly, to whom they shared a joyous life together of 38 years.
Ed was proud to be an Xavier High School Alumni, he graduated from North Carolina University, obtaining a Masters Degree from the New York John J. University of Criminal Justice, he was a Naval Vietnam Veteran. Ed was honored to serve the public in the capacity of a New York Parole Officer, with duties at New York State Public Employees Union, finishing his career as a legislative director for the AFL-CIO in New York State. Ed was also a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he sponsored many individuals through recovery and was a devoted practicing Catholic. A military honors service is scheduled to be held on July 28th, 2025, at the Sarasota National Cemetery, in Sarasota, Florida, at 2:30 PM. Donations to any animal welfare charity in his name would be greatly appreciated.
