John Rynn Obituary

John A. "Jar" Rynn, Jr.
Jan. 28, 1960-Aug. 26, 2017
John A. Rynn, Jr., 57, of New Milford, longtime partner of Rachel Bonacci, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in New Milford on January 28, 1960, son of the late John A. and Margaret (Quinn) Rynn. He was a graduate of Canterbury School, attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and graduated from Denver Diesel Automotive.
Jar, as he was known by his family and friends, was an entrepreneur specializing in the automotive, marine and construction fields. He was also a master Mercedes and Saab mechanic.
Jar enjoyed golf, boating and spending time with his friends. His nieces and nephews were very important to him and he loved them dearly.
He was well known for his witty sense of humor, ability to fix anything, his generosity and willingness to help anyone who needed a hand.
His interesting perspective on life was often quoted as "The World According to Jar."
In addition to his devoted partner Rachel, he will be sadly missed by his sister, Patricia Rynn Sylvester (Mark); his brothers Joseph C. Rynn (Andrea) and Kevin Rynn (Maureen); his nieces and nephews, Tim and Michael Sylvester (Megan), Kate Sylvester Roche (John), Jack and Peter Rynn, Frankie and Deanna Carey, John and Danielle Mandrafina and Alexander Bonacci and his great-niece Ellie Rose Roche. He is also survived by his aunts Anna Rynn, and Sister Rosemaron Rynn and extended family members Bruno and Sara Bonacci, Marlene and John Mandrafina and Bill and Eileen Bonacci, as well as many dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 10 a.m at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, New Milford.
The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield, on Tuesday between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to a charity that promotes the values held dear to Jar.

To the Rynn family,

I was so saddened to hear of John's passing yesterday. Bad news really travels fast.

I will always remember John as a kind-hearted guy. I remembered when I was 14 and some older kids were giving me a hard time passing thru the Shores. With seemingly no hope in sight for me, John appeared and told them, "Hey - leave the kid alone!" And that was the end of it, which I always appreciated. After a terrible boat accident I had, John shared some words of wisdom about a similar experience - something that was important for me to know at that time.

The Rynn's and friends were often larger than life growing up on Candlewood back in those days.John was always well-liked by all - often at the center of things. While I wasn't close to those guys, I always admired how loyal John's friends and brothers always were to each other. You guys were such a rare and cohesive group that I hope that strength will get you through the coming days.

With deepest sympathies for Rachel, Kevin, Joe and the Rynn family,

Paula Foley
