ABBAGLIATO, MICHAEL M.
Michael M. Abbagliato, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 with his family by his side, on August 25, 2016, at Hancock Hall, Danbury.
Mike was born on June 19, 1927 in New York City, a son of the late Mario and Angelina Abbagliato. He joined the U.S. Army in August, 1945 and was honorably discharged in December of 1946, serving overseas with the Special Service Depot Company stationed near Bremer Haven Germany. Mike was employed by the A&P Tea Company as a butcher for more than 30 years retiring in 1989.
Mike's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Josephine, of 69 years, his beloved children, Michael and his wife Diane of New Milford, his daughter Angela Yagid and husband Paul of Kent and his daughter, Jeanne Garzi and her husband Al of Brookfield. He was also proudest of his 7 grandchildren, Rick Abbagliato, Deena and Brian Sterry, Paul and Jen Yagid, Michael and Jess Yagid, Rob and Kylie Yagid, Ashley and John May and Dan Garzi. More than anything, he loved his "trophies", his 10 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Devin, Brooke and Courtney Sterry, Owen, Quinn, Addy and Levi Yagid and Ethan and Brody May. He is also survived by his brother, Sonny Ranaudo and several nieces, nephews and in-laws who he loved so much.
Family and friends may gather at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Monday, August 29, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield, on Tuesday, August 30th, 2016 at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Center Cemetery, New Milford.
The family would like to send heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at DaVita Dialysis, Danbury and to everyone at Hancock Hall, Danbury for all of their love and care, Mike loved each of them to the fullest.
