Robert Fink Obituary

Robert Fink
02/18/2025
Robert M ("Bob") Fink, of New Milford, CT, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of February 18, at Bethel Healthcare. He had been suffering from multiple health issues, including lung cancer. He was 70. He was predeceased by parents, Frederick C. and Florence M. Fink; and is survived by his three brothers, Richard (Cindy) of Southbury, CT, John (Beverly) of York, PA and Frederick of Windham, NY. In addition, nieces, Heather Halberstadt, Elizabeth Jordan (Zach); nephews, Andrew Fink and Patrick Fink (Meridith); great-nephews, Will Halberstadt, Topher and Augie Fink; and great-nieces, Brooke and Kate Fink.
Bob was born on September 9, 1954, in Flushing, NY. He grew up in Roslyn Heights on Long Island, attended St. Aidan's School in Williston Park, NY, moving to Brookfield, CT in 1967.
He attended Immaculate High School in Danbury, CT and graduated in 1972. It was there that his natural-born talent and passion for the piano was recognized and encouraged. Following graduation, he attended Western CT State University.
Bob was well known throughout the music community for his ability to adapt to many different styles on the keyboard and was frequently in demand, as both a solo artist and a member of many notable area bands, including Woodwind Clejj, Fast Idle, Ware and Tare, Spam Brando and many others. In 1980, Bob joined The Edge, a band that recorded and released an album on Casablanca, produced by Tom Moulton.
Many will remember Bob's 30 years at Sounds Incredible, Inc. in Brookfield, where he sold audio and home theater gear.
In recent years, Bob could be seen at nearby "open mikes" as well as at featured solo gigs.
Bob had a wild sense of humor, inherited from his late father. Whether it was a quick joke or even a comical twist at the keyboard, he was loved and admired by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
At the family's request, there are no calling hours or services. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Condolences to all family, friends and classmates. I had the pleasure of attending Immaculate with Bob and we shared many classes together and somehow both managed to graduate inspire of that. I remember the day that the whole class of 72 realized how talented Bob truly was... we attended the the school talent show "we were the clean-up crew" and Bob sat down at the piano and started to play the Beatles song book as if he wroth the music. We all simply stood their amazed for an hour or so and thought he should should have been the Main Event, he was incredible and I have never forgot that time. In recent years I've visited Bob and various restaurant gigs and always enjoyed seeing and listening to
him. He always greeted me with a rendItion of In-A
Gadda-Da Vida That was Bob's musical sense of Humor. I'm sorry for Bob's passing and will always remember him! Thanks for the memories good friend!

Oh, Bob! You were way too young!
Sincere condolences to the three Fink brothers
and their families. He loved all of you, never a disparaging word-only praise and so much admiration.

We always had fun... IHS `72 senior prom dragged until Bob got up and played. How we all loved his talent and great sense of humor! Hard to sit next to him in the classroom-always had us falling off our chairs laughing!

Such fun cruising Route 7 listening to Carole King´s Tapestry 8 track until it wore out. First Friday lunches and so many great concerts at the New Haven Arena.
Ahh, the good old days!

Thanks for the memories, Finky Bob.
Look for my mom, she always loved you!

For those that didn't know, Bob was veracious BEATLES fan. I watched more BEATLES videos with him than most people could watch of their own families. Bob's keyboard playing was tremendous. He was a virtual Library of music from any genre. To me, he was always a simple nice guy. I already miss him terribly. I hope that you JAM with John Lennon and George Harrison. Bob, your bird could always sing.

Goodbye old friend, I will always remember and cherish the mega bootleg sessions and Sunday excursions to the west village in NYC, hitting up all the record shops then running over to father Demo square to see what we scored! We were 2 kids in the candy store " bootleg bob- a - lu" and yours truly " Joey the bootman" Bob and I always had a saying no matter the situation, good or bad, we'd look at each other and say " who's better than us... Nobody! " rest in peace Bubba.

I'm sorry to learn of Bob's passing. My condolences. Having grown up in Ridgefield (RHS'72), people would always ask "any relation to Bob?". We ended up at the same party together and were introduced; he was quite a guy. Saw him many times after that at Sounds Incredible; also, my high school nick name was "Freddie". I'll bet there's a lot of good tunes in Heaven now. God Bless.

Rich and family -
I´m so sorry for your loss. I remember stories about your brother when I worked for you at Gateway, lo those many years ago.
May fond memories be a blessing...

Oh where do I begin? I´ve known Bob and admired and loved him since I was 12 years old. We used to watch " In Concert" together so long ago. So many years of laughs and fun, I sketched Ware & Tare for years during their rehearsals at The Concordia in Danbury. I have many sketch books full of them!
I think Bob never got his chance to be famous. He was so talented in unique and esquisite ways. His hands were a continuation of the piano!! There were so many many laughs, every time I saw Bob. I will always hold him in my heart, and sketchbooks. My memory is full of his goodness.
