Vita Rotella Obituary

Vita Rotella Vita Lavelle Rotella,age 81 of Danbury, wife of the late Joseph "Butch" Rotella, died at the Filosa Convalescent Home in Danbury on Sunday evening. Vita was born in Danbury, July 1, 1928, daughter of the late Vito and Mary (Carlo) Lavelle. She lived in Danbury most of her life and prior to her retirement, had worked for many years at CBS-TV in New York City. Vita loved singing and began singing as a child, performing in many civic functions, such as the Danbury Elks Lodge events. As an adult, she was a vocalist on Saturday evenings at the former Avalon Club in Bethel. She was active in the greater Danbury community and had served as a member of the Literacy Volunteers of America. Mrs. Rotella is survived by a stepdaughter, Florence Rhodes of Danbury; two grandsons, Howard Rhodes and his wife, Traci of Branford and Robert Rhodes and his wife, Eileen of Shelton; four great-grandchildren, Austin Rhodes, Carson Rhodes, Benjamin Rhodes and Devyn Rhodes; nieces and nephews, Virginia Herron Hatcher and her husband, Walter, James Lavelle and his wife, Jeanne, William Lavelle and his wife, Anne Marie and Jonathon Lavelle and his wife, Shelly; several grandnieces and nephews; her special friends, Kathy Love, Maryann Scozzafava; and her caregiver, Peggy King In addition to her husband and her parents, Vita was predeceased by three brothers, Michael Lavelle, Angelo "Murph" Lavelle and James Lavelle and two sisters, Lucy Lavelle and Rosemary Lavelle. A Mass of ChristianBurial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, Danbury, on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to Regional Hospice of Western CT, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810. Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
