Colin A. Corrigan passed away on November 30, 2023. Colin was born on June 10,1985 to Deana (Merriman) Shupp and Kevin Corrigan in Mendota, Il. He was married to Stephanie Phillips on May 20, 2019, in Clarksville, TN. Colin was a 2003 graduate of LP high school, Peru, Il. After high school MSG Corrigan proudly served with the United States Army 75th Ranger Regiment for 13 years, 5th special forces group for 4 years, and was currently serving as an Inspector General for 3 years at the time of his death. During Colin's military career he had completed a total of 8 combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq and 1 occupational rotation to Turkey. In 2004 MSG Corrigan completed Airborne school, in 2005 Ranger Indoctrination Program, 2009 Pathfinder & Basic Leader Course, 2012 Advanced Leadership Course (ALC), 2016 Operational Controller, 2018 Senior Leadership course (SLC), and 2020 Inspector General. During MSG Corrigan's military career he received a Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, 3 Army Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, 3 Army Achievement Medals, 5 Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, 3 Iraq Campaign Medals with Bronze Service Star, 3 Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, 3 Army Service Ribbons, Army/Air Force Presidential Unit Citation, and 6 Overseas Service Bars.
Colin is survived by his wife SFC Stephanie Phillips of Sierra Vista, Az, his children Chase & Sienna Corrigan of White Lake, Mi, Cameron, Sage, Conor and Calum Corrigan of Sierra Vista, Az, his mother Deana (Merriman) and Alan Shupp of Oglesby, Il, his siblings Kevin & Kim (Kleckner) Corrigan of Mendota, Il, Jorge & Kelly (Corrigan) Fernandez of Dekalb, Il, Stacy Zawacki & Todd Witek of LaSalle, Il and Luke Zawacki of LaSalle, Il, and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his daughter Shanley Corrigan, his father Kevin Corrigan, his brother Asher Zawacki, his maternal grandparents Lloyd and Darlene Merriman, his paternal grandparents Anabel (Fry) & Leo Gehant, and Leroy (Bud) Corrigan.
MSG Corrigan gave in death as he gave in life; he was an organ and tissue donor. Colin's final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
There will be 2 services held for MSG Colin Corrigan. On December 14, 2023, a military memorial will be held at Ft Huachuca in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Funeral services are scheduled for January 6, 2024, at Wasmer Funeral Home located 2112 W. Main St. Mendota, Il 61342. Visitation will be from 9:00am-11:00am with services starting at 11:00am, burial will immediately follow at Melugin Grove Cemetery in Compton, Illinois. Full Military Honors will take place with the United States Army and several local Veteran's groups participating. Chase Corrigan will act as honorary pallbearer. Dinner to follow burial at Mendota Moose Lodge located at 211 E 12th St. Mendota, Il 61342. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences can be left at wasmerfuneralhome.com.
