Randy J. Morris, 67, of Mendota, passed away March 22, 2024 at OSF St. Paul Medical Center.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Father Jeff Windy officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded afterwards and private burial will be held at Restland Cemetery, Mendota at a later date.
Randy was born May 28, 1956 to Joseph M. and Shirley A. (Saylor) Morris at Mendota Hospital at 7:05 p.m., 7 lbs. 9 oz. and 23. 5 inches long.
Randy graduated from Mendota High School in 1974. Randy became involved in local politics and served as 3rd ward alderman for 3 terms. He was the anchorman for trivia nights at the First United Methodist Church and Mendota Civic Center and was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan. Randy was very family oriented and was considered the historian for the family, as he could always remember everyone's birthday or anniversary off the top of his head. He enjoyed music and would often listen to the Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd or almost any 70's/80's rock. He will be sadly missed by our family and friends.
Randy is survived by his son Ryan Morris of Mendota; his mother Shirley Morris of Mendota; his brother Eric (fiance Laurie Brester) Morris of Mendota: a niece Patti Imel of Naperville and nephew Steven (Kirstina) Morris of Henry and great uncle to Ashlyn, Brock and Cayden Imel and Dominik and Ariana Morris.
He was preceded in death by his father in 2013 and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
