Sharon Kay (Kennell) Wright, 81, of Lostant, passed away, Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Lostant with the Franciscan Friars Officiating. Burial followed in St. John's Cemetery, Lostant. Arrangements were entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Lostant.
Mrs. Wright was born March 27, 1941 in Streator to Albert and Lucille (Comiskey) Kennell. She married Russell D. Wright on June 24, 1967 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lostant. She was a school teacher for over 35 years. She earned a Master's Degree in Music from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University.
Sharon was a devout Catholic, a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lostant her whole life. She was a talented musician and was an accompanist at many weddings, funerals and musicals throughout her life.
Survivors include: Her husband, Russell of Lostant; her children, Wayne (Tori) Wright of Streator and Vicki (Nick) Schmitt of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Kalin Schmitt and Haley Schmitt of Bloomington; a step-granddaughter, Paige Neaterour (Nick Schroeder) of Kalamazoo, MI; and a brother, James (Sue) Kennell of Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Thomas Kennell and Donald Kennell.
Pallbearers were Wayne and Tori Wright, Russell Wright, Nick Schmitt, Kalin Schmitt and Haley Schmitt.
