New Creek - Gary Lynn Cosner, 72, of New Creek, WV died on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Medical Center in Morgantown, WV.
Born on March 15, 1949 in Elk Garden, WV to the late Guy Herman and Virgie Jane (Puffinberger) Cosner. In addition to his parents Gary was preceded in death by his sisters, Hilda Kuhn Snyder, Zetta Massey, Alice Hipp and Martha Myres and his brothers, Richard Cosner, Rev. Bruce Cosner and Thomas Cosner.
Gary was a Southern Baptist. He was a member of the American Legion Boyce-Houser Post 41 and a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Nascar fan, especially for Jeff Gordon. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. Gary loved playing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gary was the beloved husband of 48 years of Kathelene "Kathy" Jackson Cosner, loving and devoted father of Kimberly Bitner and her husband Christopher of Keyser, Stacey Cosner and Scott Cosner, both New Creek, Proud grandfather of Kara (Carlos) Perez of Chicago, IL, Marquise (Elizabeth) Taylor of South Carolina, Coyte Cosner of New Creek and Khloe Cosner of Keyser, great-grandfather of Caleb and Zariah, brother of Cellie Paugh of Mt. Storm, Mildred (Jim) Rexrode of Swanton, MD, Belvia (Fred) Lewis of Corinth, WV, Guy Russell (Caroline) Cosner of McKenny, Texas and Lawrence Cosner of Lock Lynn, MD.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 30th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm at Smith Funeral Home, 85 S. Main Street, Keyser, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 31st at 11:00am. Graveside services with Military Honors will immediately follow at Potomac Memorial Gardens.
Those attending are reminded that face masks are required as well as the observance of all social distancing guidelines in compliance with health department mandates.
