Ricky Alexander Obituary

VERONA - Ricky William Alexander, 32, husband of Beverly A. (Bryant) Alexander, of 4 Crab Apple Lane, Apt. 5, Verona, died Friday (July 22, 2005) in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, as a result of an accident.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1972, in Staunton, a son of Roger and Donna (Shull) Alexander of Verona. In 199l he graduated from Fort Defiance High School and Valley Vocational-Technical School Apprenticeship Program.

Since June 10, 1991, Mr. Alexander was employed by Pete Burr Machine Works of Grottoes as a certified machinist and foreman. He was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.

His hobby was truck pulling on the Interstate Pulling Circuit for eight years. For the last four years he was also involved in the licensed A.T.P.A. East Coast Series competition, as well as a licensed N.T.P.A. member for the 2004-05 pulling seasons. He drove the White Lightnin' Chevy 4x4 modified pulling truck.

In addition to his wife and parents, family includes a sister and brother-in-law, Deana A. and Daniel H. Griffin of Staunton; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Chucky and Lisa Bryant of Fishersville and Donald and Jayne Bryant of Fairfield; a nephew and niece, Christopher and Whitney Bryant.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday (July 25, 2005) in the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 417 Salem Church Road, Mount Sidney, by the Revs. Christopher Carr and Billy Coffey. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Johns Jr., Shannon "Bloop" Ryder, Mike Myers, Joe Hensley, Pat Burr, Sam Burns, Alan Harman, and Matt Simmons.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the A.T.P.A., N.T.P.A., and Interstate Pulling Circuits, Donald Bryant, Pat Cash, Dennis Heavener, Dale Sheets and David Reeves.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today (July 24, 2005) in the church.

Memorials can be made to the Staunton-Augusta County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2566, Staunton, Va., 24402; or to the Verona Fire Dept., P.O. Box 348, Verona, Va., 24482; or to the Memorial Fund of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 38, Mount Sidney, Va., 24467.

Henry Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
