Donna Penn

Piketon Donna Penn, 85, of Piketon, Ohio, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.

She leaves behind her daughter, Dee Anne Penn, and her husband Dean Inboden; her daughter-in-law, Lori Penn; two granddaughters, Robyn (Penn) Roush, and her husband, Brian Roush, of Chillicothe, and Jessany Penn, of Piketon; one step-grandson, Jesse Inboden; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members, as well as dear friends. Donna loved them, one and all.

She was preceded in death by her cherished husband of fifty-four years, Robert Leon Penn, and her devoted son, Robert Gregory Penn.

She was born Donna Mae Wheeling on May 26, 1938 to Raymond Allen Wheeling, Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth "Bessie" (Alexander) Wheeling. Her brothers and sisters were Lee, Grace, Jean, Nancy, Bill, Alice, Gini, and Raymond, Jr. "Buddy", all of whom preceded her in death.

She was a lifelong Christian and longtime member of the Church of Christ at the Elm Grove, Piketon, and Canal congregations. She was one of the founding members of the Canal Church of Christ in Waverly, where she attended faithfully, as often as she could. She loved God with all her heart and soul. Her beautiful alto voice served to praise Him with every note she sang.

Donna retired from Goodyear Atomic Corporation in Piketon, but she certainly wasn't done working! She was happiest when she was busy preparing meals and doing things for family, friends, and neighbors. Her talent for sewing is evidenced by the numerous quilts she leaves behind. Her passion for making things and doing good was passed on to her family members, and she was a good example and teacher to them all.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and rarely missed an opportunity to see her family members perform, whether it be in sports, music, education, or any other avenue they pursued. And thanks to her husband, Bob, her life was filled with adventure at every turn!

The family would like to thank the staff at the Adena Regional Medical Center for their tremendous care and devotion during Donna's final weeks. The support given to her, as well as to her family, is so greatly appreciated.

Final services for Donna will be held at Howe-Wheeler-Boyer Funeral Home, in Piketon, Ohio, on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the service will be at 11:00 a.m. Burial after the service will be at the Smith Hill Cemetery.
