Kenneth McGuire

Chillicothe Kenneth Dean McGuire, 68, of Chillicothe, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born March 22, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Glenvil and Doris Fellure McGuire. On December 16, 1978 he was united in marriage to Cindy Adkins McGuire who survives. Also surviving are his children, Matthew McGuire of Waverly and Angie (Drew) McGuire Hays of Greensboro, North Carolina; a granddaughter, Eden McGuire; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Adkins of Englewood, Florida; an uncle, Lenvil McGuire; a sister-in-law, Ruby Cox; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Linval Adkins.

Ken was a 1975 graduate of Pickerington High School and then from Capital University. He was the band director for Piketon High School for 20 years. Before teaching he owned a music store in Newark named Band Music Center. Ken was a member of the Piketon Lions Club, Phi Mu Alpha which is the largest collegiate fraternity of musicians, and he was involved with Legend Valley Concert Park. In addition to music he grew up playing tennis and chess, and enjoyed watching baseball and basketball.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Piketon High School auditorium with Mark Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the high school.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Piketon Music Boosters for a future scholarship fund.
