Ruth Cooper Wonnell

Waverly Ruth E. Cooper Wonnell, 106, Waverly, Ohio passed 5:26 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Traditions at Bristol Village, Waverly, Ohio.

Ruth was born January 12, 1920, in Newark, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ralph Criss and Bernice (Mears) Criss. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Cooper, and her second husband, William H. Wonnell.

She is survived by two daughters, Ann Cooper Oyer and Barbara J. Briscoe; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kim) Oyer, Elizabeth (Kelly) Seif, Robert Wentz, Jr., and Michael Brisco; four great-grandchildren, Kyle Oyer, Jack Oyer, Kannon Seif, and Keelee Seif; and the ladies of the "A-Team", her friends Celia Shell and Alice Ward, who met monthly for lunch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; second husband; son, Robert D. Wentz; grandchild, Kim Brisco; sister, Helen Crouse; and son-in-law, Paul Oyer.

Ruth loved birds, especially cardinals, being around people, travelling, and hearing about her grandkids. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and always kept herself busy working outside the home.

Funeral services will be held 1:0 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church, Waverly, Ohio with Rev. Richard Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Union Cemetery, Bridge St, Waverly, Ohio.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Monday at the church.
