Harry Williams Obituary

WORTON, Md. - Harry Thomas Williams died June 22, 2014 in University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, Md. Harry T. was born on June 24, 1941, son of the late Albert Porter and Helen Lusby Williams. He was a lifetime resident of Worton and graduate of Chestertown High School Class of 1959. He loved Kent County and especially his hometown, Worton, where he was fifth generation farmer on Red Acres Farm a Century 100 farm where he and Sis raised their family. His generosity in his community is well known and he enjoyed sharing his crops and lending a hand to neighbors and friends. He was a lifetime member and trustee of Worton United Methodist Church, an early member of the Kent and Queen Anne's Counties Rescue Squad, lifetime member of Kent County Farm Bureau, member of the board of Worton Union Cemetery, and a member of the conservative Republicans of Kent. Harry T. graciously accepted the Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award in 2012. His special interests included hunting, fishing, duckpin bowling on the local league, and being a steward of the land and most of all spending time with family and friends. One of Harry T's proudest accomplishments was serving the people of Kent County as a Judge of the Orphans Court for the past 28 years. He is survived by his wife of 50 ½ years, Elizabeth (Sis) Hadaway Williams; one son, Bryan (Tracey) Williams of Worton and their children Rachel and Bryan; two daughters, Shelly (Russ) Hocutt of Powell, Ohio; and their children, Alexis Ecker, Trevin Ecker, JR Hocutt; and step-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Hannah Hocutt; daughter, Heidi (Tony) DeFabritus of Freehold, N.J., and children, Nicholas and Olivia; and step-grandson, Anthony, III; one brother, John A. (Jack) Williams and wife, Charlotte of Shepherdstown, WVa., and their children, David, Laura, Anna and their families. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June, 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Kent County High School Gymnasium, Lambs Meadow Rd, Worton, where funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown, Md.
