ALAN SPARGO Obituary

Alan David Spargo, 83, longtime resident of Old Saybrook, died June 8, 2017 at Apple Rehabilitation in Old Saybrook. Loving husband of Barbara (Belgrade) Spargo. Al was born in New Haven son of the late William J. & Elizabeth (Dugan) Spargo. Al graduated from West Haven High School, received his BA degree from the University of New Haven, his MBA from Rensselaer Institute and his JD from Quinnipiac College. He went on to work for Southern New England Telephone Co for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. It was at that point he attended law school, taught and opened his law practice. He was very active in the Old Saybrook community serving on the Board of Education and Zoning Board of Appeals. Al is also survived by his children: Elizabeth Spargo of Hudson, MA, Jeanne Chatot of Vermont, Kathryn Spargo of Ivoryton, Cara Spargo of Wallingford and Alan Spargo Jr. of Westport. Al was also step-father to Michael Steamer of Dallas, TX and Barry (Kathleen) Steamer of East Lyme as well as three grandchildren; Daniel, Keith and Timothy and a great granddaughter Aubree Marie Paige born on June 5th. Private services will be held. Interment Cypress Cemetery, Old Saybrook. Arrangement by Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Centerbrook.
