Our hearts go out to the family, with the loss of Alex. John and I worked with Alex at Mercedes for many great years. He fought a real fight, and is now pain free. RIP.

There´s so much I can say about Alex. He was my colleague, best friend, my mentor and the father I never had. He impacted my life in such a special way. I will miss you Orban.

Alex was a great fencer, and true gentleman. We were fortunate to be teammates on the 1980 Olympic Team (my first, his final Olympic Team). Due to the 1980 Moscow Olympic boycott, the US Olympic Committee offered us an exhibition trip to China that was memorable for all of us. I remember that I had picked up a Walkman in Hong Kong (a new thing back then that had not yet come to the US) and we shared a passion for latin music on the duel headphones. Many great memories, on that trip and at other games. Alex was always a fun character to be around, and a true gentleman. I am a foil fencer, but I spent a lot of time with the saber crew and fenced with them for fun to the point where the saber crew used to call me an honorary saber fencer. We shared many laughs together, and fun outings. We will miss you Alex.

Alex touched so many lives in the very best way. I´m grateful I got the chance to know him as both a colleague and a friend.
