Cowles, Alice Farr
Alice Farr Cowles died in Savannah, Georgia on November 4, 2018 at the age of 94 after a short illness. The family is grateful to the caring staff at John Wesley Villas, where she lived for almost six years, mostly as an independent resident, and to the staff of Hospice House Savannah.
She was a nearly life-long resident of Woodbridge and was pre-deceased by her husband of 63 years, Raymond I. Cowles, whom she met at Center School in 1936. They were married on August 17, 1946 at the First Church of Christ in Woodbridge. She had finished her education at the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated from the dental hygiene program. Many will remember her years of working as a hygienist at Dr. David Gibson's practice on Old Mill Road in Woodbridge.She had been an active member of the Woodbridge Garden Club since 1964, and she was well known for her beautiful gardens at home and at the Community Garden. She is survived by two sons, Tim and Jeff. Interment will be at the Milford Side Burying Ground on Racebrook Road in Woodbridge.
