Allene Alberta Kelly of Bethany, CT, born March 10, 1929, died August 11, 2025. Spunky, artistic, and smart, she taught for forty years, owned Billy's Old Fashioned Ice Cream, and was a licensed stock broker. Allene Drive, Hamden, CT, is named after her.
She is survived by daughter, Nancy Kelly, son, Shawn (Susan) Kelly, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and caregivers. She was predeceased by her husband, John Kelly, sons, Brian Kelly and Robert Kelly, parents, Peter and Louise Lago, and brother, Peter Lago, Jr.
A funeral mass is at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Road, Woodbridge, CT, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Full obituary on Legacy.com .

Condolences to all on the loss of this wonderful and accomplished woman. My family and I lived on Allene Drive for many years. We moved there in 1957 and I moved out when I got married in 1970.

Allene was the "Picasso" in our watercolor class. She was a fearless painter, totally focused, yet always adding laughter to our class. Although we lost her bright light here with us, she is now lighting up the heavens on us all. We love you, Allene.
