ANN BURNS Obituary

Ann Clark Burns (nee Cowan), beloved wife of almost 58 years to George R. Burns, Jr., beloved mother of Kelley Meadows (Eric Volkmann) of Green Oaks, IL, and Edward S. Burns (Lisa) of Orange, grandmother of Amanda, Gerry, and Cynthia Burns, all of Orange, sister of John Cowan of Stratford, predeceased by her parents, George and Margaret Cowan, a sister, Jean Wirth, and a son, George R. Burns, III, passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT on Tuesday, April 25th, after a brief illness. A 1952 graduate of Bassick High School in Bridgeport, Ann worked at The Knights of Columbus in New Haven for 25 years, retiring in 1999. She was an avid gardener, bird watcher, and animal rights advocate. She loved the sun, the beach, and traveling to Myrtle Beach, SC on vacations with her husband George in later years. She took great joy in spending time with her three grandchildren. She grew up in Seaside Village, and also resided in Stratford with her family of origin before marrying her husband and moving to West Haven. From there, she lived in Milford before moving to Orange, where she lived for 43 years before taking residence at The Willows in Woodbridge. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral or visiting hours. Ann will be cremated by The Cremation Society of Connecticut, in Windsor. Donations in Ann's name may be made to The Connecticut Humane Society.
