Anthony Nardecchia Obituary

Anthony A. Nardecchia, Sr.
Anthony A. Nardecchia, Sr. of Orange, passed away February 13, 2023, on his 89th birthday. A son of the late Rocco and Angela (Agostini) Nardecchia, Tony married the love of his life Rita Bonci. His legacy will be carried on by his two sons and their families, Dr. Anthony Nardecchia, his wife Angela, and their children Nicco, Nina and Rocco and Joseph Nardecchia, CPA, his wife Jaime and their children Joseph Jr. and Sophia. Tony's siblings, Rose Satterthwaite and John Nardecchia, predeceased him.
A graduate of West Haven High School, class of 1953 and a 1958 graduate of Eli Whitney Tech, with diplomas in plumbing and heating, Tony embarked on his career as a plumber in 1959. As a member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 349, he worked for several contractors in the New Haven area. In 1979, he joined the Engineering Department's Plumbing Shop at Yale-New Haven Hospital where he remained for 28 years, retiring in 2006 as lead plumber.
Tony proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1956, followed by six years as a Reservist. He was active in a myriad of volunteer positions, as a Cub and Boy Scout Leader, youth sports coach in both Orange Little League and Orange soccer, and he was a member of the Orange Republican Town Committee. Other interests included the New Haven Ski Club and Singles Ski Club, where he served as past president of both, gardening and working out at the YMCA where fitness was an important part of his life, starting at an early age.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 23 from 8:30 to 10:30 at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Infant Church at 11 o'clock. I just now heard that Tony passed away. I'm so sorry to hear about this. If I knew sooner I would have attended the services. Tony was a great guy, I and many others enjoyed talking to him at the YMCA. He was always fun to be around and had a great personality. I will miss his wisdom and his company greatly. My condolences and prayers to his family. He was a good man, may he RIP.
