SACHS, BARBARA Barbara Sachs, 82, formerly of New Haven, devoted wife of more than 60 years to Gerald Sachs, died on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014. Born in New York, Nov. 18, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Lillian (Scharfman) Levine. Beloved Mother of Joel (Debra) Sachs of Woodbridge & Bruce Sachs of Santa Fe, NM., Dear Sister of Edward Levine of Richmond, VA. Cherished grandmother of Ethan & Molly Sachs. A graduate of University of CT, Barbara was a Social Worker for the State of CT, Dept. of Protective Services for the Elderly. She then owned Faye’s Gift Shop on Chapel St., in New Haven, for many years, before returning to her position as a Social Worker for the St of Ct. She was the recipient of many Commendations and Citations from the State of CT for recognition and appreciation of her skill and dedication to those elderly in need. The family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Ewa, Maggie, Liz, & Marissa for the loving care given to Barbara each and every day. Funeral Services at B’nai Jacob Memorial Park, Wintergreen Ave., New Haven FRIDAY afternoon (TODAY) at 1:00 o’clock.
