It is with great sadness that the family of David John Blake reports his sudden and unexpected passing on April 8th, 2025, in East Haven, CT. David was born on Sept. 13th, 1957, in New Haven, CT. David was predeceased by his parents, William T. Blake and Marjorie J. Blake of West Haven, and is survived by his two brothers, William T. Blake Jr. of Ocala, FL and Richard A. Blake (Catherine) of Madison, CT. David was also predeceased by his wife, Linda DiPino Blake of East Haven, where they lived for many years. He attended West Haven public schools and graduated from West Haven High School. Dave entered the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduation and was a proud veteran. After his military service, Dave joined Southern New England Telephone for a long career, initially as a cable splicer, and retiring as a maintenance engineer. Dave was passionate about fishing and boating, the Boston Red Sox, all kinds of games, as well as daily walks with his dog, Molly, his constant companion. He and Linda enjoyed attending minor league baseball games with the Connecticut Tiger and the New Britain Rock Cats and Bees. Although he was a quiet person by nature, he enjoyed a hearty laugh and a good time with friends and family. Despite being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a young adult, Dave refused to allow the disease and its many complications to dampen his enthusiasm for life.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd, at Keenan Funeral Home, on Elm Street in West Haven, from 8:00AM – 9:30AM. A funeral Mass will follow at St. John Vianney Church, on Captain Thomas Blvd. in West Haven, at 10AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, in North Haven, at 11:45AM with military honors.
