David Bowerman Sr.

BOWERMAN, DAVID CHARLES SR. David Charles Bowerman Sr., age 81, of Milford and beloved husband of Margaret L. Bowerman,went home to be with the Lord, October 14, 2011 peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 23, 1930 in Gratz, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Virginia Bowerman of Williamstown, PA, where Dave also grew up. A former three sport all-star, Dave was signed in 1949 by the New York Yankees at the age of 19 where he played for 2 years in their minor league system. He was a decendant of the late Frank Bowerman who was the battery mate of Hall of Famer Christy Matthewson of the New York Giants. He moved his family in 1957 to Milford, CT where he was employed by the Southern Connecticut Gas Company for 32 years and retired as superintendant of transportation and maintenance. In addition to his wife, Margaret of 64 years, he is survived by his sons, Gary Bowerman and his wife Sandi of Hilton Head, SC, David Bowerman, Jr. of Crawfordsville, IN, Ed Bowerman and his wife Betty of Trumbull, CT, Terry Bowerman and his wife Diane of Monroe, CT, Keith Bowerman and his wife Nancy of West Haven, CT and Darryl Bowerman and his wife Donna of Seymour, CT, fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Edith Umholtz and Merlene Reitenbach of Williamstown, PA and sister in law Julia Bowerman of Harrisburg, PA. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 17th at 10:00 a.m., meeting directly at the Calvary Evangelical Free Church, 498 White Plains Rd, Trumbull, CT 06611. Interment to follow at King's Highway Cemetery, Milford. Friends and family may call on Sunday, October 16th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.
