Gene Tinti Obituary

Gene J. Tinti Sr.
Gene J. Tinti Sr., age 88, entered into eternal rest on February 14, 2022 at the West Haven VA Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband to the late Ruth Consavage Tinti and also the late Josephine DiMauro Tinti. Gene was born in Derby on February 4, 1934, son of the late Solindo and Frances O'Neil Tinti. A proud veteran, Gene honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a devoted police officer for the City of Ansonia for thirty-one years until his retirement in 1991. Following retirement, Gene dabbled in many part-time jobs. He was a mail clerk for Webster Bank, delivered flowers for Petal Pusher Florist in Derby, transported car parts for Service Auto Parts in Ansonia and served as a crossing guard for the City of Derby. Gene was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of its Catholic Men's Club. He was also a member of the St. Sebastian Club in Ansonia and the Catholic War Veterans in Derby. Gene enjoyed winter months in Cape Coral, FL and vacationing in Aruba. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots. His favorite hobby was playing cards. Gene leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Lisa Smith (William Sr.) of Ansonia, Diane Tinti-Wald of Milford and LoriAnn Heine of Derby, a son, Gene J. Tinti Jr. of Derby, six grandchildren, Megan Smith of New Boston, NH, William J. Smith Jr. of Naugatuck, Kelleigh Wald of Minneapolis, MN, Spencer Wald of Brooklyn, NY, Lily Wald of Milford and Sarah Heine of Derby, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Tinti. Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Masks will be required in the funeral home. On Saturday, February 19, 2022, all are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. (meeting directly) at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. U.S. military honors will be accorded following Mass. Burial in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery will be private. Dear Lisa, Gene, Diane and Lori, I’m so sorry for the loss of “Uncle Gene”. I will never forget the many memories we shared with him and all of you. Especially our times on Ells Street!
